How to Save Energy Daily
More power is wasted daily in the US than in any other nation around the world. With environmental issues such as pollution and ozone layer depletion, we have to be really conscious of the amount of energy we use.
Today, we are going to discuss just a few things you can do to help save energy and also save a little money daily. These are very easy things that any person can do, you simply have to make the decision to do them in order to help planet Earth and ourselves.
Merely switching off the lights whenever you exit a room in your home is one of the things you can do to avoid squandering power. Many people are likely to leave leave lights switched on in a room when they know they will return, maybe in ten or fifteen minutes. If you do this for only a few times a day, it could add up to at least 30 minutes of consumed electrical energy. While you squandering what could be thirty minutes of power every day may not look like much, know that millions of other people are doing it also. If you add it up, one individual could be squandering at the least 182 hours of electrical energy annually. Let's say we waste about 182 hours of electrical energy annually and we multiply that by one million people. That's 182 million hours of energy wasted annually coming from a light that is left turned on in a single room.
Another wasteful habit that many people do is switch the lights on when going inside a room. A lot of us do this without thinking. I tend to catch myself doing it as well. The problem is that even during the day when you have no need for the light since you're getting more than enough sunlight to light up the room. And yet, we come into a reasonably lit room and flip the light switch to on. And the bad part is since there is daylight, you may exit the room and leave the lights switched the entire day because you don't even realize it's on. You must make a conscious effort to leave the lights off if there is adequate natural light in a room.
People who leave their TVs and radios on all day, when they are not even in the same room is one of the biggest problems. I yell at my mom each time I go over to visit and she has her TV on but isn't even watching it. That's a good deal of electricity being squandered. Thus, if you are not watching the television, just flip it off.
These are only several easy things that can be done daily to help save electrical energy and to help save the planet by doing so. It only takes a little effort on your part to remember these things, and when each person makes a small effort, it can add up to make a huge difference.
