About the US Vice-Presidential Debate of 1988?
Did Lloyd Bentsen win this debate? I know about the famous quote: "Senator, you're no Jack Kennedy!" But as an overall, did Bentsen win this debate like Joe Biden winning his debate against Sarah Palin?
Please explain what critics and analysts said back then.
That was indeed the knock out punch of the whole debate........
it was an EXCELLENT zinger. It not only smoothly insulted his opponent but also emphasized how young he was, and how old and experienced he himself was. A TWO-FER, if you will.
I don't think it's fair comparison though, because NO ONE expected Sarah to win the debate with Biden .
It had to be dumbed down so low for her......that Joe could have just STOOD there and said nothing, and she still would have lost.
Instead, she opened her mouth, and removed all doubt.
The second she started speaking........Joe won. It was no contest.
It was like a Tyson fight, when he was at his prime.
Tyson would show up, and seconds later....the opponent was being carried from the ring.
Why bother showing up?
