Arctic Brother Of Lake Baikal - Lake Taimyr In Arctic Russia

<!-- @page { size: 8.27in 11.69in; margin: 0.79in } P { margin-bottom: 0.08in } -->

Lake Taimyr in Arctic Russia is propped with a mountain system and only one river flows out of it.

Lake Taimyr is sometimes compared with Baikal in Russia. The same as in Baikal a huge plenty of rivers and streams flow into it from all cardinal directions, first of all these are the Upper Taimyra, Bikada and Yamutarida. The mountain system also backs the lake's water: here these are the Byrranga Mountains. The same one single river flows out of the lake – the Lower Taimyra, flowing into the Kara Sea.

Taimyr' in the period of high water by its area becomes the fourth lake in Russia after Baikal, Ladoga and Onega. It occupies a tectonic deep, treated by a glacier, and in fact is a giant bay of the Upper Taimyra river. Therefore, the hydrological regime of the lake coincides with the regime of the river. The average benchmark of water in the lake is 5 m above sea level.

To the north of Lake Taimyr there are the Byrranga Mountains. Local inhabitants consider it the "Lower World", no one of them has ever been there.

Arctic in Russia is often called the "weather kitchen". In summer in Taimyr its "special" is the wind. Exactly the wind, but not low temperature, creates the greatest discomfort. The wind determines "severity of the weather" in Arctic Russia. Thus it is much easier to get over frosty, windless weather than zero temperature with a strong wind. An important feature of the weather in Arctic Russia is its ability to change quickly for the worse.

At the moment such types of tourism as an extreme, family and cognitive ones are being developed.
